FAQ
Booking
HOW MY BOOKING SYSTEM WORKS
I take bookings in three month blocks.
~ January-March, April-June, October-December ~
Once all my spaces for those three months are full, I close my bookings until just before the next block begins.
TO MAKE YOUR BOOKING
Please ensure you provide me with the following information:
- Description of the design idea
- Placement on the body and a photo of the area to be tattooed
- Rough size in centimetres
- Any reference photos that help illustrate your idea
Pricing
My rate is $200 per hour for large and ongoing work, but some smaller tattoos may be priced by the piece.
The shop minimum is $150.
I can do my best to give you a time estimate of the tattoo once I have all the information, but this is just a guide as many factors can determine how long a tattoo will take to complete.
Payments can be made via cash or Pay ID.
Deposits
A $100 deposit is required when you make your booking, in order to have your spot confirmed.
Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.
This deposit comes off the cost of your tattoo on the day.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please give as much notice as possible.
At least 48 hours notice is required to keep your deposit valid.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment within that 48 hour period, a new deposit will be required to rebook.
Age
To be tattooed you MUST be over the age of 18, regardless of parental consent. No exceptions.
Be sure to bring a current and valid photo ID with you to your appointment.
Location
I tattoo from West Side Tattoo Mermaid Beach.
2478 Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach, QLD, 4218
Design
I specialise in colour bold traditional, but am happy to tattoo a variety of styles, however I may recommend another artist if the request falls outside my style or ability range.
I prepare your design using your description and reference images as my guide.
I generally don’t send out designs before the appointment time but am happy to make changes together on the day if needed.
I also do free consults if you’d prefer to have an in person chat about your design.
Coverups
I am happy to do coverup and rework jobs, however there are a lot of variables with this kind of work.
If you’re wanting something covered or reworked, send clear photos of the existing tattoo and I will be able to advise as to whether we can go ahead with a booking or if you should first look into some laser treatments to lighten the tattoo.
Coverups mostly always need to be bigger and darker than the existing tattoo in order to effectively cover and disguise it. In nearly all coverup cases, it is highly beneficial to have laser treatments done as it greatly increases the options and results for the new design. If laser is necessary I can provide details of a laser technician for you to make an appointment with.
Numbing Cream
While there are some instances where a numbing cream can be very beneficial, it’s important to know there can also be risk involved.
Please discuss the use of them with me before coming to your appointment.
